Poor standards of installation and a lack of adequate governance by the relevant bodies has meant that there are a significant number of unsafe and non-compliant solar installations in the market.  While the Clean Energy Regulator is making efforts to improve the standards of work for future installations, this does not help the ones installed over the past 20 years.​
